BANKS Explains What F*cking With Herself Really Means
‘The Altar’ singer also talks depression, vulnerability, intimacy and more.
In 2014 BANKS released an intimate look into her own life with Goddess, only one year after making her musical debut with the raw “Before I Ever Met You.” This September she followed up with The Altar and goes even deeper, continuing to expose herself even more following her own self-realization. Not one to participate in too many interviews in the past, the singer sat with Noisey to talk about her songs and being vulnerable: “They’re so intimate, they’re so raw.”
The sophomore album’s first single “Fuck With Myself” was BANKS at her boldest. She explains the message behind it, saying “I don’t give a shit what people think about what I put out because my music is me.” Above, she also addresses struggling with depression since she was 14 or 15, adding “It’s like the universe trying to pull you back when you’re about to leap forward.”
