Chanel's 2017 Cruise Campaign Was a Stunning Look Into Cuba's Beauty
The campaign was “a playful nod to Che.”
Chanel’s Cruise 2017 show was staged in the Communist-ruled Cuban streets – a statement more than anything, and many Cubans saw it with new eyes: “Just because I can’t afford it doesn’t mean I want to deny others that luxury. And who knows, maybe one day. It’s important to dream.”
Karl Lagerfeld brought the Chanel camp to Cuba to shoot the campaign – both seaside and on the quaint cobble-stone lined streets. Cuba is rich with color and the designer-cum-photographer matched tweed and tourist T-shirts against its equal-toned counterpart. Black berets were a “a playful nod to Che.”
