Disney's 'Mulan' Live-Action Remake Gets an Official Release Date
20 years after its animated debut.
Mulan first debuted in 1998 — 20 years later, Disney’s animated film will return to theaters, but as a live-action remake. The global casting search for a Chinese actress to fill Mulan’s role — and carry her legendary sword — is officially underway, while Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, who are working on the Avatar sequel, are tasked with writing the script.
This falls right in line with Disney’s live-action trend — Maleficent, The Jungle Book, Cinderella and Tarzan saw massive success before the highly-anticipated releases of Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Mulan is slated to hit theaters November 2, 2018, so stay tuned for details in the future.
