Every Single Item in Rihanna's Fenty x Stance Collection Is Alive With Japanese Moods
The Fall 2016 collection campaign is a pure masterpiece.
Rihanna’s Japanese street-punk inspiration is now layered upon Stance – last explored on the much-hyped Fenty PUMA collection. The artist is the Contributing Creative Director and designer to Stance, having launched a debut collection in 2015.
Four seasons later another Fenty for Stance collection is available. The 10-piece capsule counts socks and hosiery adorned with Japanese culture interpreted on a modern streetwear and punk tangent. Intricate lotus illustrations and patterns inspired by vintage kimonos debut alongside writing that speaks to anyone’s own Bad Gal persona.
LA-based illustration Bijou Karman was selected by Rihanna to turn the designs into a campaign – her vintage aesthetic is a stunning match to RiRi’s vision. The Mary-Jane – with lace-up ribbon detail – and Geisha stand out.
“This is our fourth collaborative project with Rihanna and she continues to surprise us with her creative approach to the category,” said Stance EVP Candy Harris. “Each collection brings unexpected twists, and in true Rihanna form, this season is no exception.”
