Sacai's 2017 Spring/Summer Collection Pays Tribute to Kurt Cobain
Amongst other zeitgeist-shakers like Pablo Picasso, John Lennon and more.
For the 2017 spring/summer season, Chitose Abe’s Sacai pays tribute to the “game changers” of the art and cultural world, including Pablo Picasso, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain and the like. As the designer explained at a preview of her presentation, the concept for the new collection is “to take things from their style and to put them all together, as one.”
Highlighted in the show are three T-shirts featuring Daniel Johnston’s Hi, How Are You album art, which was made famous by the Nirvana frontman back in the early 1990s. There is also a white bandleader jacket reminiscent of Hendrix’s signature attire, paired with a silky scarf-print dress. In addition, the collection sees a handful of stripy blouses and wide-legged trousers, tartan-printed dresses, military-style frocks and more. Browse the gallery above to see it for yourself.
Sacai also launched its first-ever handbag collection immediately after the runway show. You can head over here to learn more.
