Nathan Westling Designs His Own Sk8-Hi Sneaker
The Reissue DX is turned into a stylish beaut.
Nathan Westling is an original Vans devotee – his love for the brand’s been proven time and again. He’s a Vans ambassador and modeled the Sk8-Hi on a 2016 campaign that we had a chance to go BTS. Westling, who learned to skate at age three, has even tattooed an “Off The Wall” logo on his arm.
This season the model designed his own 90s skate-inspired Sk8-Hi Reissue DX – the cherry to his Vans accomplishments. His sneaker is cast in a warm honey leather upper and sky blue sidestripe. Checkerboard print lining and a dark gum sole complete the iconic design.
“I was so honored to be a part of the Sk8-Hi campaign recently that it only felt right to choose the Sk8-Hi. All in all, I wanted to create a shoe that I could skate in but was also different from all of my other Vans.”
The Christin Rose-lensed lookbook incorporated the photographer’s She Plays We Win group that supports young girls in sports. Local New York skater kids modeled alongside.
Retailing at $100 USD, the shoe drops November 3 in-store and online at Opening Ceremony. Watch the campaign video below and read our interview with the skater here.
