Forever Vans Girl Natalie Westling Designs Her Own Sk8-Hi Sneaker
The Reissue DX is turned into a tomboy beaut.
Natalie Westling is an original Vans girl – her devotion to the brand’s been proven time and again. She’s a Vans ambassador and modeled the Sk8-Hi on a 2016 campaign that we had a chance to go BTS. She’s even tattooed an “Off The Wall” logo on her arm.
This season the model designed her own 90s skate-inspired Sk8-Hi Reissue DX – the cherry to her Vans accomplishments. Her sneaker is cast in a warm honey leather upper and sky blue sidestripe. Checkerboard print lining and a dark gum sole complete the iconic design. A “Natalie Skate” logo to match her tattoo is printed on the insole.
“I was so honored to be a part of the Sk8-Hi campaign recently that it only felt right to choose the Sk8-Hi. All in all, I wanted to create a shoe that I could skate in but was also different from all of my other Vans.”
The Christin Rose-lensed lookbook incorporated the photographer’s She Plays We Win group – it supports young girls in sports much like Westling who learned to skate at age three. Local New York skater kids modeled alongside.
