Tuesday evening, Rihanna became the first woman to ever win Shoe of the Year at the annual Footwear News Achievement Awards. Her PUMA Creeper jumped over Kanye West’s YEEZY Boost 350, which received the honor in 2015, after Stan Smith and his namesake adidas sneaker the year prior.

“This is such a big deal for me,” the Bad Gal shared once she took the stage. “It makes me so proud to be a woman, to be a young woman from Barbados, especially. To come to America and just do this by default just because I liked to wear a certain style of shoe.”
