A Female DC Spin-Off Starring Harley Quinn, Catwoman & Poison Ivy Is Officially Happening
The project entitled ‘Gotham City Sirens’ will be helmed by ‘Suicide Squad’ director David Ayer.
After it was announced earlier in September that Margot Robbie would be reprising her role as the clown princess in a Harley Quinn standalone film, The Hollywood Reporter has just confirmed that David Ayer will be directing a female DC spin-off project entitled Gotham City Sirens. Set to also star Poison Ivy and Catwoman, the movie is set to portray some of DC’s most beloved villainesses. The story arcs of the three characters are often intricately interlaced within the comic universe, so it is unsurprising that they will be coming together for this new flick.
Taking on writer duties for the screenplay is Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who is considered a driving force within cinema’s action genre — she has previously penned scripts for the forthcoming Tomb Raider remake, as well as Sherlock Holmes 3. Although Suicide Squad was largely met with abysmal reviews at the box office, Warner Bros. is already developing a sequel and is also considering a spinoff featuring Deadshot. Although details are still sparse regarding an exact release date for Sirens, the project has apparently been placed on the fast track.
