Beyoncé Sends a Message with the Music Video for Her New Single "Formation"
“I came to slay, b*tch.”
On the eve of her highly anticipated Super Bowl 50 halftime show this past Sunday, Beyoncé dropped “Formation,” her first new song since 2014. Released over Tidal and YouTube, fans were doubly ecstatic to see the new video (which even includes an adorable cameo from Blue Ivy) that dropped along with Queen B’s latest track. Showcasing visually stunning environments that explore the dichotomies of high-brow and low-brow, tradition and modernity, the video is an impactful piece that implicitly comments on various topics such as police brutality and Hurricane Katrina. As one of the most politically-charged launches of her musical career, all set to a body-rolling banger, “Formation” is definitive proof that Beyoncé is back. You can watch the full video above.
