Amandla Stenberg Leads in Black Lives Matter Film
The film adaptation of ‘The Hate U Give.’
The ever-intelligent and outspoken Amandla Stenbergs’ been cast in the upcoming film on the Black Lives Matter movement. The film adaptation of the popular young adult novel The Hate U Give — its name taken from Tupac Shakur’s T.H.U.G. tattoo — recalls the Black Lives Matter movement. Stenberg will play 16-year-old Starr who must testify when the police shoot her unarmed best friend. No word on other details in the George Tillman Jr.-directed adaptation, but it’s expected to be one for the ages.
