COMME des GARÇONS' 2016 Fall/Winter Collection Imagines 18th Century Punk
“All about revolution.”
“Have you ever wondered what an 18th-century punk would look like?” was heard before Rei Kawakubo’s latest presentation for COMME des GARÇONS. But Kawakubo’s idiosyncratic vision of punks were unexpected, even to her avant-garde standards – an exaggerated procession of garland-shaped jacquards, mounds of sugar-pink fabric, and articulated floral armor carapaces marched to the tune of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Her abstract work on the runway forged a unexpectedly powerful connection to the one percent — as particular as the clothing itself. Check out the collection for yourself.
