“Making relaxwear for all ages.”
Jun Takahashi does it again in his latest Undercover 2016 fall/winter collection. With the intention to make “relaxwear for all ages”, the designer presented his show with a range of models from different generations. From young faces to the likes of Christina Kruse, and models with silver hair and poised faces, his garments prove a multigenerational appeal. The collection features pieces such as sweats, cozy knits and oversized outerwear that are terrifically hybridized. While he may have drawn inspiration from this season’s surreal undercurrent (with images of women’s faces transformed into masks and puzzle pieces on various looks in the collection), there was an air of eerie beauty to it that was anything but sinister. If there’s anything budding designers need to learn from Takahashi, it’s his focus on his designs that carry up the vibe he was going for, rather than using runway dramatics.
