VFILES Shares What Every Young Designer Needs to Know for a Successful Runway Show

What goes down behind every successful runway show.

For the last six seasons, VFILES Runway has provided a platform for budding designers to present their creation. The process sees industrial mentors coming together and picking the top four designers amongst the numerous submissions to show at NYFW. This is a significant opportunity for up-and-coming designers as the exposure that they’ll receive on the VFILES runway is unrivaled. Past winners include Hyein Seo, Melitta Baumeister and ASSK.

We’ve always wondered though, what really goes on behind the scenes in order to put together a successful runway show? We are especially curious since the up-and-coming brands and designers involved are still fairly fresh to the fashion industry. You have to admit that a runway show is more than just the clothes. To shed light on the process, VFILES has produced a 15-minute documentary that gives you a glimpse at its recent 2016 fall/winter presentation. The documentary reveals everything that happens within the four days leading up to show, from meeting the mentors to model casting. Also, you’ll get to know a little more from this year’s winners - Anton Belinskiy, Sophie Hardeman, Kim Shui and Ottolinger - and their design processes. Check out the video above.
