Kristen Stewart Will Apparently Be The "Queen of Cannes" at This Year's Festival
Others stars on this year’s film roster include Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Charlize Theron, Ryan Gosling and more.
Many are expecting this year’s Cannes Film Festival to be a star-studded one. At a press conference earlier this past Thursday, the event’s artistic director Thierry Frémaux stated, “This will be a festival when the stars are out in a massive way.” He then added, “Kristen Stewart will be the queen of Cannes,” referring to the two films that she will be starring in. Stewart is set to play the lead in Woody Allen’s Café Society (set to open the festival on May 11), as well as French director Olivier Assayas’ Personal Shopper, which happens to be one of the 20 movies in the running for the prestigious Palme d’Or award.
Another notable film to be shown includes It’s Only the End of the World by Canadian director Xavier Dolan (you might recognize him as the one behind Adele’s now-legendary Hello music video), which stars heavy-hitters such as Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Nathalie Baye, Vincent Cassel and Gaspard Ulliel. Sean Penn is also set to make a return to Cannes after a 15-year absence with his latest film The Last Face, starring Charlize Theron, Javier Bardem and Adèle Exarchopoulos. Other stars set to make an appearance in this year’s screenings include George Clooney, Lily-Rose Depp, Iggy Pop, Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe and more. Presiding over the jury will be notable Australian director George Miller, who is best known for his visionary work in the Mad Max franchise.
