Made LA Will Kick Off With Golf Wang and Moschino in June
An inaugural event for the sunny city.
Los Angeles is often left out of the discourse on fashion, but Made LA is looking to change that with an inaugural event this summer. Though the likes of Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton and Burberry showed collections in the sunny city last year, this two-day fête aims to be the first of its kind to draw attention from the industry in a major way.
Moschino will kick off the affair, which Vogue says is a “lineup of runway shows, presentations, and events focusing on bridging the worlds of fashion, music, art and celebrity.” In doing so, Jeremy Scott has opted out of his usual London location to present the label’s men’s Spring 2017 and women’s Resort 2017 collections. What really comes as a surprise is a headlining presentation from Tyler, The Creator, who will be showing his Golf Wang line — an unprecedented move from the rapper who admitted to actually hating fashion in the past.
“I just make whatever clothes I want to wear for the next five months and then run that. I don’t really put deep, intricate thought into it — it’s more like a feeling. I just figured, Why not? Why not do something different? Not everybody in the upper fashion world is wearing all-black Saint Laurent pieces and is super pretentious. I want to show them a different world.”
Made LA will take place June 10 and 11 at L.A. Live’s Event Deck.
