Nendo Designs Unconventional Skewed Marble Tables for Marsotto Edizioni

Lean over.

When it comes to smart, distinctive and minimal design, you can always trust Nendo to deliver. The Japanese design studio just unveiled the above series of “Sway” tables for Italian marble furniture brand Marsotto Edizioni. Available in white and black, the legs appear to be buckling under the weight of the heavy tops. This concept came about when the team behind this series wanted to “exploit” the weight of marble. They claimed, “The weight of marble is often perceived as a negative factor, but this element has been actively exploited, resulting in the creation of a table that is tilted to one side.” By manipulating the weight of the legs, the tables are stabilized. The tables will show at Marsotto Edizioni’s exhibition space at the Spazio Bigli from April 12 to 17 during this year’s Milan Design Week.
