Everything You Need to Know About Anthony Vaccarello
The current frontrunner as Hedi Slimane’s successor at Saint Laurent.
Following the official announcement of Hedi Silmane’s departure from Saint Laurent for the second time, there have been numerous speculations that Anthony Vaccarello will be taking over as the new creative director for the fashion house. The 33-year old Belgian designer may seem unfamiliar to many, but he has been steadily building a name for himself, from winning the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography for his collection inspired by Italian porn star “La Cicciolina” in 2006, to being appointed as the creative director for Versus Versace in 2015. Aesthetically speaking, Vaccarello prefers the legs-skin-leather formula, which is almost entirely in-sync with the current style of Saint Laurent that Silmane has revolutionized for the house – remember all the micro hemlines and biker jackets seen in each collection? There hasn’t been an official statement for the appointment yet but if Vaccarello is confirmed, he will be Saint Laurent’s fourth ready-to-wear designer. Stay tuned for more updates.
