Zuzanna Buchwald Calls out Body Shaming in the Modelling Industry, Which Caused Her Eating Disorders
“It was a terrible experience.”
For years now, models have faced the pressure to stay sample-sized (US size 0-2) if they want to make it big in the industry. As a result, unfortunately, a large number of models have been diagnosed with eating disorders; a recent study showed that as many as 40% of models may be suffering from some form of an eating disorder. In a recent video for Real Women, Real Stories, top model Zuzanna Buchwald speaks up about the emotionally and physically adverse effects she faced from the industry to stay thin. She shared that she had battled both anorexia and bulimia for four years, during which she lost her period for three years, had problems with teeth, bad complexion and weak hair. Through this, she hopes to help young models that are going through the same thing, especially to encourage newcomers in the industry to make their health a first priority. Watch her powerful message in the video above.
