Levi's and Google Join Forces For Smart Jacket
A jacket that can answer calls and go in the wash.
Following last year’s announcement that Google and Levi’s joined forces for Project Jacquard, the product of this collaboration has now been unveiled at this year’s Google I/O conference. Project Jacquard is a smart fabric that features built-in sensors which enable wearers to control their music, answer a call or respond to a message. The jacket, which is intended for cyclists, will work with Google apps like Google Maps and messaging, as well as third-party programs such as Spotify and Strava. Google hopes to expand beyond cycling and bring smart fabric into other clothing lines. The beta version arrives this fall while the consumer release is scheduled for next spring.
