Louis Vuitton Presents Its 2017 Cruise Collection in Rio De Janeiro
The very city that inspired the jovial collection.
Last weekend, Louis Vuitton presented its 2017 cruise collection in Rio de Janeiro at the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The models strutted down the winding walkway of the ultra-modern location, showcasing the energetic and vibrant collection that was inspired by the lively city. Nicolas Ghesquière expressed, “In Rio de Janeiro, what I saw most of all was movement and an explosive energy that lives somewhere between modernism and tropicality. I was fascinated by the constant duality between nature and urbanism and the pictorial explosion it creates. For me, the main question was how to incorporate into my collection all these elements that are part of Brazilian culture, without forgetting that I am just a visitor who brings his own Parisian and French cultural references to the moment.”
To continue the theme in the collection, guests were seated on mismatch crates in dynamic colors, which was likely a nod to the city’s favelas. Amongst the star-studded attendees were Jaden Smith, Zendaya, Alicia Vikander, Isabeli Fontana and Alessandra Ambrosio. Check out the gallery above to preview the collection.
