Beyoncé Faces Lawsuit from Filmmaker over ‘LEMONADE’ Trailer
Queen Bey is accused of lifting elements from Matthew Fulks’ film for her album’s teaser.
Beyoncé, along with Sony Music, Columbia Recording, and Parkwood Entertainment have been sued by independent filmmaker Matthew Fulks for copying visual elements from Fulks’ short film Palinoia to create the LEMONADE film. According to the plaintiff, links to Palinoia were sent to Columbia’s Bryan Younce after Fulks was approached for a potential collaboration with Columbia-signed duo MS MR. Fulks also claims that Younce requested that he submit a video to Columbia for consideration in July last year, some time before the filming of LEMONADE commenced. To compensate for the “exploitation of his work,” the filmmaker seeks to share a percentage of profits generated from the sales of Queen Bey’s latest platinum record.
