HYPEBAE's 2016 Summer "Color Era" Beauty Editorial
A modern interpretation of beauty trends through the decades.
Throughout the decades, beauty trends have been defined by distinct variations in eye makeup looks. From the dawn of eyeliner marked by the thick application of the Ancient Egyptians to the modern day smoky eye, women have for centuries used the embellishment of their eyes as a means of self-expression. Shot by globetrotting photographer Kara Chung and modelled by Akira Reid, makeup artist Anael Darmon recreates a selection of classic maquillage with a modern twist. The range of styles includes an interpretation of 1950’s-style geometric eyeliner, a look inspired by the doll-like appearance of 1960’s icon Twiggy, and a rendition of a vibrant modern art canvas. Paired with a streetwear-inspired wardrobe of pieces from Stussy, Cheap Monday, Maison Kitsuné and more, the beauty looks are adaptable to either an editorial or everyday experience.
