Kidult Defaced Kanye West's Paris Pop-Up Shop With "Real Slaves"
The French tagger strikes again.
With an infamous reputation of vandalizing retail windows with his tags, Kidult has resurfaced and struck Kanye’s The Life of Pablo pop-up store in Paris yesterday. The French tagger, who is known to express his anti-consumerist leanings through graffiti, established his voice over the years by vandalizing storefronts of luxury retailers such as Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Hermès, A.P.C. and Chanel. The Frenchman also made a mark in New York City when he defaced the Supreme outlet in 2011. Kidult had hinted his intentions via Twitter in the morning before posting a photo of his act. The Frenchman has covered the façade of the temporary pop-up with the words “Real Slaves,” an unsubtle nod to Kanye’s well-known track “New Slaves.” Perhaps it was intentionally directed at the Yeezus fans waiting in line for the store’s opening but, to be honest, probably won’t stop them from getting a chance to cop the sought-after Pablo merch.
Kanye’s pop-up is opened in Paris for its second and last day on June 26 on Rue de Richelieu.
