A bold event combining its 2017 spring/summer menswear and women’s resort collections, the concept behind Public School’s latest runway show was all about calling for the rise of new leaders. Dao-Yi Chow, co-designer and co-founder emphasized that the show is about “the rise of leaders who shouldn’t be leaders. It’s very dystopian and George Orwellian 1984. We need to wake up and snap out of it.” Set in a mock factory with a hero-less monument, the set-up seemed to foretell a bleak future. With designs inspired by revolution, the collection seamlessly combines high fashion and streetwear. As we were offered exclusive access backstage, we got a sneak peek into the hustle and bustle before and after one of the biggest shows of the season. We also got a first look at PSNY’s exclusive “Swooshless” Nike AF1 and Eugene Tong’s styling efforts. Take a look backstage in the gallery above and view the full collection here.
