Y-3 Is Inspired by Sci-Fi Horror Films for 2017 Spring/Summer Collection
Showcasing Yohji Yamamoto’s hallmark minimalist, non-conformist aesthetic.
Set in a whitewashed corridor lined with fluorescent lights, it is perhaps unsurprising that Yohji Yamamoto’s latest 2017 spring/summer collection brings together his favorite science-fiction and horror films (including Clockwork Orange, Blade Runner and Under the Skin) and fuses them into an imagined future world that explores space and time travel. Set against Y-3‘s hallmark preference for a minimalist, non-conformist environment, the futuristic setting perfectly complements the dystopian aesthetic that laces the sports fashion of Yohji Yamamoto and adidas‘ provocative vision. Connecting the brand’s futuristic collection are four key themes: ‘Future Perfect,’ ‘Dimension 3,’ ‘Renegade’ and ‘Surrealism.’ Introduced in the program is also the limited edition NOCI 0003 sneaker, a robust, deconstructed silhouette that is available for purchase straight off the runway – an industry first. You can see the entire Y-3 2017 spring/summer collection in the gallery above, and can view Runway Highlights and behind-the-scenes footage in the videos below.
