AlunaGeorge, Dreezy and Leikeli47 Drop an Insane New Track
The banger is a celebration of female empowerment and an exploration of the nature of consent.
With summer currently in full swing, the selection of infectious banger tracks continues to roll out. British duo AlunaGeorge now joins in on the fun with a new song entitled “Mean What I Mean,” tapping rising female rappers Dreezy and Leikeli47. With hard-hitting verses, the dance floor hit is a celebration of female empowerment and an exploration of the nature of consent. “It’s a very genuine place I’m singing from here,” Aluna Francis told Annie Mac when the song debuted on the host’s renowned BBC Radio 1 program. “I was in a situation; I said ‘No.’ The person I was with was like, ‘No, you mean “yes.” That’s what you mean. I know what you mean, and you mean “yeah,” cause you’re just playing hard to get.’” Intertwined within the unbelievably catchy new song, the lyrics are unexpectedly poignant and touch on an important subject that deserves more attention.
