Ariana Grande Will Star in NBC's Upcoming "Hairspray Live!"

“I’m really just a musical theater geek. Like a really big one.”

Ariana Grande is about to return to her roots as a musical performer by joining the cast of the forthcoming Hairspray Live! show on NBC. Breaking the news on Twitter, the singer joyfully announces that she will be participating in the show, stating that she is ”really just a musical theater geek… like a really big one…” Grande will star as Penny, a “dream role” that the singer has been aspiring to play ever since childhood. Apart from Grande, the cast also includes the likes of Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Hudson, and Maddie Baillio. Scheduled to premiere December 7, stay tuned for updates of Hairspray Live! as the show develops.
