Margot Robbie Isn't Really Fazed About That Infamous 'Vanity Fair' Profile
She’s “desensitized” to Hollywood sexism.
Rich Cohen’s Vanity Fair cover on Australian actress Margot Robbie came under much criticism and ridicule. Comments like, “She is 26 and beautiful, not in that otherworldly, catwalk way but in a minor knock-around key, a blue mood, a slow dance” enraged the Internet.
The article was panned with one Twitter user writing, “The sexist, outdated, horny drivel of Margot Robbie’s #VanityFair profile is embarrassing for everyone.” On a recent interview with Network Ten, Robbie admitted: “That was a really odd interview, I don’t know how that’s going to come out. And then when I read it I was like, ‘Yeah, the tone of this is really weird.”
More unnerving than that, Robbie admits she doesn’t understand the huge uproar it caused, citing:
“I’ve read like far more offensive, far more sexist, insulting, derogatory, disgusting things on a daily basis. I don’t know, maybe I’m like desensitized to it.”
That prompts the sad – and startling – realization about sexism in Hollywood. Watch Robbie’s interview above and read the Vanity Fair article here.
