Maria Chiuri Quits Valentino, Dior Rumors Confirmed
“I am ready to embark on a new professional challenge,” she said.
Last June, rumors began to swirl around Maria Chiuri’s departure from Valentino to spearhead Dior’s creative direction, a spot vacated by Raf Simons. But it was all hearsay back then. It was major news because she would be the inaugural woman to hold the position.
Now, Valentino confirms Chiuri’s departure — she cited, “I have shared with Pierpaolo a great part of my professional life and it has been an experience made of many successful creative achievements together. I am ready to embark on a new professional challenge.” It is understood her longtime design partner Pierpaolo Piccioli will now be the sole creative director.
Let the Dior rumors fly – the house was supposed to announce its new creative director after its July couture show, so, any day now.
