Nike's Instagram Is a Win for Curvy, and All, Women Everywhere
The Swoosh is breaking the stereotype of what fitness looks like.
It should go without saying that health and fitness is not one-size-fits-all, and yet we’re often presented with only images of skinnier women as representatives for exercise. Nike Women’s Instagram is changing that however, following the launch of its new athletic wear. The Pro Sports Bra line promises to be the best-fitting on the market, but that’s not why Nike and the collection are receiving so much attention.
Among the stereotypically smaller-framed women seen on the Swoosh’s Instagram appeared the photos of model Paloma Elsesser and yoga instructor Claire Fountain, two women who are breaking the fit mold. The captions of their photos make no mention of their size, and instead share lessons on Sports Bra 101. Overall, the public has reacted with overwhelming praise for the brand’s direction toward inclusivity — which is truly a win for everyone in the name of body positivity.
