Opening Ceremony Continues Its Year of China With Vans "Qi Pao" Pack
Honoring traditional Chinese dress.
Opening Ceremony dubbed 2016 its “Year of China” in its continued effort to honor global diversity, and now the retailer unveils the next exclusive offering as part of the series. Partnering with longtime-collaborator Vans, OC presents OG Classic Slip-On LX sneakers inspired by traditional Chinese dress. The qi pao is a Mandarin gown that can be dated back to the 1920s when socialites and upperclass women wore them in Shanghai. Its design is directly translated onto the shoe, which is covered in a silk brocade fabric with floral and gold weaved embroidery.
The “Qi Pao” pack includes pink, black and red pairs, all of which can be found at Opening Ceremony for $85 USD.
