Palm Angels’ latest Spring 2017 runway presentation showcases a selection of pieces that recalls the Moscow youth aesthetic made famous by Gosha Rubchinskiy. As a departure from its typically conservative looks, Palm Angels heads towards a more vibrant mood with creative director Francesco Ragazzi at the helm. Incorporating flashy elements into preppy styles, the resulting program is an entirely new take on contemporary sportswear. Jerseys and tracksuits are reimagined alongside trench coats and blazers, with kitschy fringe-embellished and aerosol sprayed “souvenir” T-shirts thrown into the mix. Although the range as a whole employs a fairly subdued palette, retro prints and rainbow shades are used on select pieces to add a touch of flamboyancy.
