The 'Sherlock' Season 4 Comic-Con Trailer Is Too Intense to Handle
“Something’s coming…”
The cult-status BBC series Sherlock is notorious for its extended gaps in between seasons, leaving fans in a constant state of anticipation. However, those attending the Sherlock panel at Comic-Con were in for a treat when they were given a first look at the upcoming fourth season of the popular TV series. After the program left viewers hanging with “The Abominable Bride” special episode, the trailer seems to pick up things where they left off with Sherlock and Watson’s search for answers related to Moriarty’s mysterious “return.” As a whole, the trailer is eerily foreboding. The reel starts off with Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) ominously predicting, “something’s coming…” and includes various cuts of him throughout the clip looking dishevelled and slightly paranoid.
Cumberbatch and co-star Amanda Abbington also mentioned during the panel that the forthcoming season would be the darkest one yet, filled with emotional rollercoasters and unexpected twists. As the trailer quotes, ”everything they know will be tested,” various scenes shown in a hospital setting are more than a little unsettling. The show also stars Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson and Andrew Scott as the villainous Professor James Moriarty. Sherlock season 4 will premiere on PBS starting 2017.
