Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a drill. Prepare to lace up your platform sneakers because it looks like an actual Spice Girls reunion is finally going to happen. The past few years have heard rumors about whether the ’90s girl group would give us what we want (what we really, really want), and to honor 20 years of their smash hit “Wannabe,” Scary, Baby and Ginger Spice offer a celebratory video indicating their long-awaited comeback. Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell hinted at throwing a “party” to thank their fans around the worldwide — “and when we do, you’re all invited.”
If you’re still skeptical, then get this: a new website popped up introducing a new name for the band, Spice Girls GEM. GEM comes from the initials of the trio we see above — Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm, AKA Posh and Sporty Spice, are unfortunately missing. Still not enough evidence? The Sun reports the trio booked London’s Hyde Park venue for a date in July 2017. They’ve also been in the studio with music producer Eliot Kennedy who said, “We have been in the studio, with just three of them…We wrote a brilliant song and the energy was exactly like it was 20 years ago, just as enthusiastic, just as much to say, just as much to celebrate.”
Once the official tour announcement arrives, they don’t even have to ask. We’ll be there.
