Victoria Monet and Ariana Grande Respond to Recent Tragedies with New Song "Better Days"
“We have to remember that the only way we will progress is if the overruling force is #Love.”
In light of the tragic deaths of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile, and the killing of five Texas police officers at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas, Ariana Grande has joined forces with Victoria Monet for new song to promote peace and love within the country. Titled “Better Days,” the R&B track carries an important message, “How we gonna stop the violence, stop the hurting, stop the hatred, stop the murders? / We’re all human, that’s for certain. Come together, we deserve it.” Grande has also expressed her stance in response to the recent tragedies, stating on her Instagram:
During this challenging time, we have to remember that the only way we will progress is if the overruling force is #Love. Music is a universal language that all of us can feel regardless of color lines, gender, sexuality, age, race, religion… it unifies us. We believe we cannot fight hate with hate, only love. Just as we cannot fight darkness with more darkness. Only Light.
