This LA Art Gallery Turned Iconic Artists Into Emoji
Yayoi Kusama, Frida Kahlo and Warhol are translated into millennial lingo.
Millennials have all but turned human language into emoji lingo (Kimoji leads the cause), and LA-based Cantor Fine Art is appealing to youth power to reclaim iconic artists. There’s Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, pop artist Andy Warhol and painter Frida Kahlo among the pixelated portraits.
Cantor recalled “some emoji are direct references to famous artwork,” including Banksy’s “Girl With a Balloon.” Check out the emoji art above and head over to Instagram to peep more icons.
