Disney Princesses Trade Their Gowns for Streetwear Garb
Artist Alisa Rantanen reimagines the likes of Cinderella, Belle and Jasmine in Supreme, OFF-WHITE, KITH and other brands for HYPEBAE.
If Sleeping Beauty were to awaken during contemporary times, what would she be wearing? Artist Alisa Rantanen has an idea, presented to HYPEBAE in a series of sketches that reimagine her along with other Disney princesses in some of our favorite streetwear and fashion labels. Despite their makeovers, the essence of each princess is mixed and matched with recognizable pieces: Aurora, for instance, is cozy in Nufferton while Rick Owens footwear adds a fashion-goth twist. Merida, the red-headed heroine of Brave is outfitted in Vetements; Cinderella’s ball-ready in a Supreme box logo tee and OFF-WHITE SS16 skirt; Belle blends high with Stussy; and KITH Women becomes Jasmine’s athleisure-inspired two-piece of choice.
