Lena Dunham has always been vocal about embracing her body. Earlier this year, the actress penned a piece entitled “Retouched by an Angel” about how she refuses to have her photos retouched by publications. Recently, Dunham and her fellow Girls co-star Jemima Kirke teamed up with New Zealand-based lingerie brand Lonely for a body-positive campaign. Wearing only the label’s delicate underwear, both Dunham and Kirke pose confidently for an unretouched photoshoot.
According to a representative of Lonely, the company strictly refrains from using photoshop because it “aspires to showcase women wearing underwear in a way that we usually don’t see in mainstream advertising and the media.” Through launching this new campaign, the brand hopes to allow women to feel empowered and “a little more liberated.”
