Photographer Martin Mougeot dedicated an entire editorial to youth culture’s marked obsession with vintage T-shirt. Vintage tees have never not had a heyday per se – largely bands’ merch copying a bygone musical era – but recent attention by vintage-believer Jerry Lorenzo and Vetements’ $900 USD Snoop Dogg T-shirt spotlights the moment that much more.
Lensed in New York’s Chinatown – or home to bootleg vintage – model McKenna Hines was styled to an urban grunge mood by Justin Gambrah. Alternating between oversized 2Pac and Michael Jackson T-shirts and Gambrah’s own upcoming EVEN line, Air Jordan 1s top the retro-tomboy look.
EVEN broke down and reconstructed vintage garments into new wear – that skirt: eye candy much? Combined with soft film Mougeot, gave us a retro throwback that’ll leave us pre-’00s kids in 100 percent nostalgia.
