M.I.A. Has Invited Zayn Malik to Collaborate on a Track for Her New Album 'AIM'
Stay tuned for “Freedun.”
Following the release of her new track “Go Off” produced by Blaqstarr and Skrillex, M.I.A. has confirmed that she has also worked with Zayn Malik on a song to be featured in her upcoming album AIM. After a couple of WhatsApp exchanges, the outspoken rapper and the former One Direction star has joined forces to create a track entitled “Freedun.” According to Maya, the English singer has been friends with her for a while prior to the collaboration:
We have the same publishers and they wanted me to demo some songs for Zayn. Before I started writing properly my own stuff [for AIM], I was thinking maybe I’ll write for other people instead. I really wanted to write a song for Zayn …We had a couple people in common. And that’s how it came about. I didn’t really approach him for my own record until later on. First, I thought I wanted to try writing a song for him.
Scheduled to release on September 9, stay tuned for M.I.A and Malik’s first collaborative project “Freedun.” Meanwhile, you can head over here to listen to the rapper’s latest single “Go Off.”
