Santigold Plays with Shadow Puppets In "Banshee" Music Video
The artist delivers a new visual for her ‘99¢’ track.
Following the release of her “Can’t Get Enough of Myself” video featuring Jay Z and Pharrell, Santigold now presents the visual for her single “Banshee.” The Ari Marcopoulos-directed music video sees shadow puppets of Santigold and artist Kara Walker, who is responsible for the puppets’ construction. Speaking of her involvement in the video, Walker explains in an interview with The New York Times:
I have made shadow puppet videos before, but I’ve never made a puppet that was a portrait of someone (besides myself)… It’s been a few years now, but the last video I made shows one puppet being tortured and set on fire — so this video is a bit more cheerful.
