Naomi Watts and Matthew McConaughey Rekindle Their Love In 'The Sea of Trees'
Sneak a peek at the upcoming Gus Van Sant-directed drama.
Two-time Oscar nominated director Gus Van Sant has unveiled the first trailer of his upcoming film, The Sea of Trees. Among the impressive cast of the new drama film are Interstellar‘s Matthew McConaughey, The Impossible‘s Naomi Watts, as well as Inception‘s Ken Watanabe. The plot of the movie centers around Arthur Brennan (played by McConaughey), who treks into Aokigahara, the infamous “Suicide Forest” in Japan in an attempt to take his own life. The forest is actually located at the base of Mount Fuji in real life, and is rumored to be a site where some would go to contemplate life and death. Along the way, Arthur encounters a Japanese man Takumi Nakamura (Watanabe), who initially plans on committing suicide as well. Following the duo’s journey of reflection and survival, Arthur soon rediscovers his love for his sickly wife (Watts) who suffers from a brain tumor.
