"Marilyn: Character Not Image" Exhibition Celebrates a Rare Side of the Film & Fashion Icon
An exclusive, capsule exhibition of Marilyn Monroe’s poems, wardrobe, and sketches.
Marilyn Monroe (real name: Norma Jeane Mortenson) is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable pop culture icons of our time. From her sultry, airy voice to her unmistakable blonde do, she continues to serve as a muse for some of today’s greatest creative minds. Celebrating a side of Monroe that is rarely seen by the public eye, Mana Contemporary will be hosting a “Marilyn: Character Not Image” exhibition curated by Whoopi Goldberg. As an exclusive capsule exhibition, the series will show the late starlet’s poems, dress and sketches. Photographs by Weegee will also be presented, alongside select video footage, as well as the iconic dress that Marilyn wore to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy.
“Marilyn: Character Not Image” will show at Mana Contemporary from September 25–October 22. For more information, you can visit the gallery’s website.
