Mary J. Blige Sings A Cappella to Hillary Clinton and It's Beautiful
The R&B artist croons a heart-wrenching Bruce Springsteen cover in an upcoming interview.
Beats 1 has recently shared a preview of an upcoming interview between R&B icon Mary J. Blige and Hillary Clinton, following the presidential debate that took place earlier this week. In the brief clip shared via Twitter, we see the artist performing a heart-wrenching song about police violence. Billboard points out that the track is actually Bruce Springsteen’s 1999 track, “American Skin (41 Shots),” which was written after the murder of Amadou Diallo by four NYPD officers. Shot 41 times in his apartment, the 23-year-old Guinean immigrant was reaching for his wallet at the time, although the action was fatally mistaken to be a movement towards a gun. It was then reported by The New York Times in 2000 that all of the officers were acquitted.
The full interview will debut on September 30 on Apple Music. You can watch the teaser in the clip below.
