OFF-WHITE 2017 Spring/Summer Backstage Editorial: The GirlBoss Rules
Virgil Abloh coins the new “Businesswoman” – with Frank Ocean and Kanye West in attendance.
Last season Virgil Abloh made a trinute to Pretty Woman and on OFF-WHITE’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection the designer wanted to relabel “businesswoman.” He paid homage to Sigourney Weaver’s Katharine Parker role in 1988 Working Girl.
Virgil concluded per Vogue: “My generation, I don’t even know what my friends do. But we’re all eating at Nobu and traveling to Paris.” The “businesswoman” – according to Virgil – is a magical unicorn that pays no attention to the traditional working-woman notions.
But the collection is grounded in corporate #girlboss moments – cue new-age pin-striped shirts and well-tailored double-breasted outerwear. White-collar customs are replaced in lieu with streetwear moods. Also check out Binder Clip Bags – available to shop now – and monogrammed sweatshirts.
