Four years after launching, Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel are ready to reveal Mansur Gavriel’s debut ready-to-wear collection next September during New York Fashion Week. The brand gained cult-status with its Bucket Bag.
Mansur mused to BoF:
“Creatively, we were always ready. We had such fast growth with the bags that we felt that we needed to be operationally prepared. Now the time is right.”
To prepare Mansur and Gavriel hired 30 people including designers in 2016 – the growth is unprecedented considering no one was hired in two years. Still they’re not interested in outside investments just yet: “We like to go at a pace that we can manage.”
In the meantime, the brand is extending the lease on its retail space in New York’s SoHo. Soon-to-come to the pop-up in February is the designer’s Spring 2017 collection. Mansur added that it will be “a glimpse of how we hope to grow in the future.”
