Margot Robbie Transforms Into an Infamous Figure Skater in 'I, Tonya'
December is swiftly approaching.
Arriving just in time for the 2018 Winter Olympics is the I, Tonya trailer starring Margot Robbie as the formerly disgraced Olympic skater, Tonya Harding. The teaser pans to Robbie smoking a cigarette, then stubbing it out with her skate as a voiceover plays:
“America: it wants someone to love. But they want someone to hate. And the haters always say: Tonya, tell the truth!’”
The dark comedy highlights Harding’s troubled life, and pinpoints the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championship incident in which rival figure skater Nancy Kerrigan, played by Caitlin Carver, was violently attacked by Harding’s then-husband Jeff Gillooly, played by Sebastian Stan. Watch the trailer above. The movie will release on December 8.
