Yaeji Is the Korean-American Musician You Need on Your Radar
Peep her new “Drink I’m Sippin On” video here.
Yaeji has been on HYPEBAE’s playlist for awhile now, and for good reason too. The artist and producer, who splits her time between New York and Seoul has a distinct and memorable sound – soft vocals over hazy electronic beats that you just can’t help but be completely enveloped by. From remixing Drake’s Passionfruit to much acclaim, to headlining her own Boiler Room event and working on a soon-to-be released sophomore EP, it’s been quite a year for the multi-hyphenate. The release of her new single “Drink I’m Sippin On” and its accompanying video only adds to the hype.
The low-key yet mesmerizing video, directed by Anthony Sylvester, catches the artist and her friends exploring Chinatown by night. Lit by the district’s trademark neon signs, the dreamy visuals are matched only by the effortless style of the artist. The outfits worn in the video were actually thrifted and reworked by Yaeji herself, who added custom 3M lettering on the back to read her name in Korean.
