Burberry's Creative Director Is Moving on After 17 Years at the Label
Christopher Bailey is exiting the fashion house in 2018.
After 17 years at the British fashion house, Creative Director Christopher Bailey has announced that he is moving on from Burberry. Bailey will remain as the brand’s president and chief creative officer until March 31, 2018, when he will officially leave his position with his last collection being Spring/Summer 2018.
Burberry’s chief executive Marco Gobbetti said, ”Burberry has undergone an incredible transformation since 2001 and Christopher has been instrumental to the company’s success in that period,” and also revealed that the brand has a clear vision for its next chapter. “It has been the great privilege of my working life to be at Burberry, working alongside and learning from such an extraordinary group of people over the last 17 years,” said Bailey.
The rumors surrounding who will replace Christopher Bailey have already surfaced, with many speculating that Céline Creative Director Phoebe Philo could be stepping up after it was announced that she would be leaving the Parisian label. It remains to see who will succeed Bailey, as there is no official information yet.
