Supreme latest instalment of its Artist Series skate decks features the work of none other than Cindy Sherman. The acclaimed American photographer, whose work consists heavily of conceptual self-portraits which she directs, styles and models herself, was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship in 1995.
Known as one of the most influential American photographers of her time, Sherman’s work frequently captures feminist themes, and her choices of subject matter (including close-up vomit shots and disaster scenes) have been seen as de-fetishizing the female body.
Supreme’s collaboration with Cindy Sherman features the artists “Untitled #181” and “Untitled #175” pieces from her Grotesque Series of photo stills on two skateboard decks. The artwork, which is on the underside, is complemented by a similarly-colored upper boasting Sherman’s signature and the iconic Supreme logo. The decks are due to release online and in-store in NY, Brooklyn, LA, London and Paris on November 9. Japan will also see a release date on November 11.
